Ending the Year with Intention and Grace

As the year comes to a close, it’s natural to feel pulled in different directions. There might be a mountain of tasks you still want to conquer, but deep down you’re likely craving a slower pace to unwind and soak in time with loved ones – I know  I am!. Wherever you find yourself, the key is leading with intention. Whether you’re going to tackle those tasks or take some time off, make peace with your decision.

If you’re focused on tying up loose ends, approach your to-do list one step at a time. Overloading yourself can lead to frustration, so prioritize what truly matters and tackle it practically. On the flip side, if you’re hoping for relaxation and connection, try to be fully present. That means putting down the phone, letting go of distractions, and savoring the time you spend with family and friends.

This season is of course also an opportunity to reflect. Ask yourself: What’s my big-picture vision? How can I honor that while being in the moment? Balancing the two doesn’t mean doing everything; it means doing what matters most, intentionally.

For me, this time of year is about slowing down. I’m taking a few weeks off, but instead of letting my to-do list revolve around work, I’ve shifted the focus to family, peace, and joy. My end-of-year plans include:

◦ Baking cookies including some fun ones for the pups  (and maybe creating a new family favorite recipe!)

◦ A relaxing spa trip with my daughter

◦ Enjoying a movie at the movie theater with my son

◦ Starting a new book and appreciating the down time

◦ Enjoying one of the new local Michelin-starred restaurant with my husband, Rafael

My goals are focused around winding down, and getting in some good quality time. For me, this is how I’ll close out the year with intention and recharge my battery.

Whether your focus is productivity, peace, or somewhere in between, think about how you want to feel when you enter the new year. Create space for what matters most, and approach the end of the year with purpose. After all, how you close out the year sets the tone for how you step into the next one.
